Guwahati: In a move to expedite critical urban infrastructure upgrades, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, IAS, on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the ongoing Ganeshguri Junction Redevelopment Project, one of the city’s key infrastructure undertakings.

Accompanied by Joint Commissioner Dhruba Jyoti Hazarika and senior officials from allied departments, Dr. Lakshmi Priya reviewed the pace and quality of work being carried out at the site. The inspection focused on evaluating project progress, addressing bottlenecks, and reinforcing the importance of timely and efficient execution.

Ganeshguri Junction, one of Guwahati’s busiest and most congested intersections, is currently undergoing a major overhaul aimed at improving vehicular movement, enhancing pedestrian safety, and upgrading the area’s overall aesthetics. The redevelopment is part of GMC’s larger vision for urban renewal and improved city mobility.

During the visit, the Commissioner stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and adherence to quality standards. “This project is vital for easing congestion and improving the daily commute for thousands of residents. We are committed to delivering it on time without compromising on quality,” she stated.

Key components under review included road widening, upgraded drainage systems, and the development of pedestrian pathways. Dr. Lakshmi Priya directed the engineering teams to ensure strict compliance with safety measures and project deadlines, especially considering the high-traffic nature of the location.

The inspection reflects GMC’s hands-on approach to infrastructure development, with a focus on citizen-centric planning and transparent execution. Upon completion, the redeveloped Ganeshguri Junction is expected to stand as a benchmark in modern urban planning within Assam’s capital.
