Guwahati: A Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) team led by Executive Engineer Hemant Kalita, along with his team, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction of the Refuse Transfer Station (RTS) near Purabi Dairy on Monday.
The RTS is a key component of GMC’s broader plan to overhaul and modernize the city’s waste management infrastructure. Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly improve the collection and transfer of municipal solid waste by reducing transit time and enhancing operational efficiency. During the inspection, officials assessed the pace of construction, reviewed technical specifications, and addressed challenges faced by the execution team. Speaking on the occasion, GMC officials highlighted the vital role the RTS will play in maintaining cleaner surroundings and providing improved urban sanitation services for residents. The corporation reiterated its commitment to sustainable urban development.
