Guwahati: Demonstrating prompt civic action, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) swiftly addressed a waterlogging issue in the Wireless area on Wednesday, bringing much-needed relief to affected residents.

Led by GMC Joint Commissioner Mrinal Borah and Executive Engineer Hiranya Hazarika, the response team, including dedicated Safai Mitras, conducted an on-site inspection shortly after the situation was reported. Upon assessment, pumping operations were immediately initiated to drain the accumulated water.

Thanks to the quick deployment of manpower and machinery, water levels receded swiftly, minimizing disruption in the locality. Residents expressed relief and appreciation for the GMC’s proactive approach during the ongoing monsoon season.

“This timely action is part of our commitment to keeping Guwahati resilient during rains,” said Joint Commissioner Mrinal Borah. “We remain alert and ready to respond to any emergency to ensure public convenience and safety.” GMC officials have also urged citizens to avoid dumping waste in drains and to report any early signs of waterlogging, assuring continued vigilance across vulnerable areas in the city.
