Guwahati: High-level meeting on artificial flood management held in city

Guwahati: A high-level meeting focusing on Guwahati’s artificial flood management was held on Monday at Janata Bhawan, in the presence of Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah.
The special session witnessed the participation of senior officials from the Urban and Housing Department, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), and Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The meeting primarily discussed strategies to combat the recurring problem of urban flooding in Guwahati.
Key dignitaries present included Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, GMDA president Narayan Deka, Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA) Kabita Padmanabhan, and GMC Commissioner Meghnidhi Dahal. The programme highlighted the need for enhanced inter-departmental coordination and the implementation of accelerated, long-term solutions to ensure flood resilience in the city.
