Guwahati: Assam Secondary School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-II, has announced that Higher Secondary (HS) students can now opt for the same language both as a Modern Indian Language (MIL) subject and as a Skill Subject, provided the Advanced Language subject is chosen under the Skill category.

This decision comes as per the revised Academic Regulation published on April 24, 2025. The new regulation classifies Advanced Language subjects as skill-based, thereby allowing students from any academic stream to select them as Skill Subjects.

The move removes the earlier restriction that prevented students from choosing the same language for both MIL and Skill Subject categories, opening up greater flexibility in curriculum design and language learning for students across streams.
