Guwahati: Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) has achieved a remarkable milestone in the field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), with 41 of its learners successfully qualifying the UGC-NET June 2025 examination. This includes one learner who secured the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Assamese, further bolstering the university’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence in Assam.
The results highlight KKHSOU’s academic strength across disciplines: 13 candidates qualified in Education, 11 in Assamese, 9 in Political Science, 3 in English, 2 each in Social Work and Sociology, and 1 in Management. The success of these learners is a strong rebuttal to the long-standing perception that distance education lacks quality, proving instead that with the right academic support, ODL learners can thrive at the national level.
The university attributes this success to its robust learner support ecosystem, which includes enriched self-learning materials, interactive video lectures, blended learning opportunities, and a widespread network of 337 study centres across Assam. Additionally, thousands of dedicated Academic Counsellors have played a vital role in offering academic and motivational support at the grassroots level.
Congratulating the successful candidates, KKHSOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das said, “This remarkable success reflects the determination, talent, and perseverance of our learners. The University stands beside them as a constant mentor and motivator. We are confident that our learners will continue to make their presence felt in national and state-level competitive spaces.”
Compared to last year’s performance where 34 learners cleared the UGC-NET, this year marks a significant leap forward, reaffirming KKHSOU’s commitment to excellence, equity, and empowerment through Open and Distance Learning.
