Guwahati: In a remarkable display of courage, commitment, and professionalism, two women sub-inspectors of the Guwahati Police have done landmark investigations in two separate cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. SI Jitumoni Rabha and SI Pranati Gogoi led meticulous investigations in cases involving heinous crimes against minors, ensuring that justice was not only delivered but also swift.

SI Rabha’s investigation resulted in a life imprisonment sentence for an accused who had sexually assaulted a child within his own family. Her diligence in collecting evidence, along with a sensitive approach towards the survivor, played a key role in the court’s verdict.

In another case, SI Pranati Gogoi’s thorough and empathetic investigation led to a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence for the accused. Her methodical documentation and survivor-centric approach helped turn a complex case into a watertight charge sheet.

Senior officials of the Guwahati Police have lauded both officers for their unwavering dedication and professionalism. “Their commitment to justice, especially in such sensitive matters, sets an inspiring example for the entire force,” said a top police official.

These convictions stand as a testament to the growing strength and sensitivity within Assam’s law enforcement system.
