Guwahati: Love triangle turns fatal in Gorchuk; accused nabbed within 3 hours

Guwahati: In a tragic turn of events arising from a love triangle, a 26-year-old man, Mriganka Barman of Japarkuchi, Nalbari, was fatally attacked in the Silver Arcade Marketing Complex, Gorchuk. The incident occurred on Monday and was solved within three hours due to swift action by Gorchuk Police.

According to Dy. Commissioner of Police (West) Padmanabh Baruah, Mriganka Barman was found critically injured at the scene and was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead.

The accused, Raju Ali (31), a resident of Dampur in Hajo, was apprehended within hours of the crime following detailed technical analysis and field investigation by the police.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both the victim and the accused were allegedly in love with the same woman, who is reported to be married. Upon learning that Mriganka and the woman were present in a hotel at the complex, Raju Ali arrived at the location and called them downstairs. He initially assaulted Mriganka with a stick before fatally stabbing him with a knife.

After committing the crime, Ali fled the scene, leaving behind the murder weapon. He was later tracked down and arrested. The police have seized both the stick and the knife used in the attack.
