Guwahati: Man arrested for assaulting minor in city

GUWAHATI: In a swift action, a team from Latasil Police Station arrested 62-year-old Sankar Basfor for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The arrest was made based on a report filed with the police.

According to officials, the victim has been medically examined at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The Child Welfare Committee has also been informed about the incident.

The accused, Sankar Basfor, has been charged under Section 64(2)(f)(m) of BNS 2023, R/W Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The investigation is being led by WSI Trishna Nath, and legal action has been initiated against the accused.
