Guwahati: Man dies after falling into well at Dakhingaon

Guwahati: A tragic incident happened at late Tuesday night, when a 38-year-old man lost his life after accidentally falling into a well at Dakhingaon in the Kahilipara area.

The deceased has been identified as Bikram Sonowal, a resident of Mathgharia. According to sources, Bikram had gone to visit his in-laws’ residence in Dakhingaon when the incident took place.

The mishap occurred around 11 pm near Seujpur Namghar Road. Reportedly, Bikram had stepped out near a well situated on the premises just before dinner. In a freak accident, he slipped and fell into the well.

Upon receiving information, personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) promptly reached the site and launched a rescue operation. Bikram was eventually retrieved from the well in a critical condition and rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he was declared brought dead.
