Guwahati: In a heart-wrenching incident that has left fellow passengers and onlookers stunned, a man identified as Golok Rajbongshi, a resident of Dahudi in Nalbari district, jumped into the Brahmaputra River from a ferry on Wednesday afternoon, leaving behind a suicide note addressed to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The incident occurred around 3:20 pm aboard the MV Bhagirathi, a passenger ferry operating between Guwahati and Rajaduar in North Guwahati. Eyewitnesses reported that Rajbongshi leapt into the river in full public view, leaving fellow passengers shocked and helpless.

According to the contents of the suicide note recovered from the ferry deck, Rajbongshi took the extreme step citing his deteriorating physical condition. He expressed his inability to continue living due to being “physically unfit” and appealed to the Chief Minister for the establishment and welfare of his son.
