

103 projects taken up at a cost of over Rs 45.77 cr

GUWAHATI: There is some good news for the dwellers of the city as the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is all set to start 103 infrastructure improvement projects at an estimated cost of over Rs 45.77 crore.
According to a GMC official, the proposed works mostly comprise construction of bye-lanes, drains, guard walls etc under the six Divisions of the civic body. The official said that a total of 41 projects of various types will be undertaken under Division-I of the GMC at a cost of over Rs 12.60 crore, while seven projects will be taken up at a cost of over Rs 7.12 crore under Division-II. Six projects will be taken up at a cost of Rs 6 crore under Division-III; 11 projects will be taken up at a cost of over Rs 6.05 crore under Division-IV; 23 projects will be taken up at a cost of over Rs 6.96 crore under Division-V; and 15 projects will be taken up at a cost of over Rs 7.03 crore under Division-VI.
The official informed that tenders have been already floated for these works and the process of evaluating bids and allotment of work will be completed within January next, and the successful bidders will be given three months' time - that is, till April next - to complete their respective works.
Areas where infrastructure improvement work will take place under Division-I include No-4 and No-6 Ferry Ghat Colony, Kamakhya Colony, Maa Bonadurga temple area, Bogala temple area, Lalitanagar Shiva Mandir, Gorchuk, Machkhowa, Dwarka Nagar, Shantipur, Adimgiri Garo Basti, Durga Sarovar, Fatasil-Ambari etc.; under Division-II, works will be undertaken in areas such as Gandhibasti, New Sarania, J Baruah Road, Karnachal etc.; under Division-III, works will be undertaken in areas such as Sundarpur, Chaliha Nagar, Jyoti Nagar etc.; under Division-IV, works will take place in areas such as Chatribari, Fancy Bazar, KC Patowary Bye-lane, St. John School Road, BK Kakati Road, Srimantapur, RK Mission Road, Birubari, Mazhar Road etc.; under Division-V, works will take place in areas such as Juripar Path in Panjabari, Satgaon, Dr Zakir Hussain Path, Sarumataria, Kerakuchi, Ghoramara, Bhagadattapur, Bhetapara, Hatigaon, Bakrapara, Hengerabari (near Dispur Poly Clinic), Kahilipara etc.; and under Division-VI, works will take place at Odalbakra, Garchuk, Ambari, Betkuchi, Ahom Gaon, etc.
