GUWAHATI: A large number of devotees thronged the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple on the first day of Chaitra Navratri to offer prayers and seek divine blessings. From the early hours of the morning, worshippers from across the country gathered at the historic temple, participating in the festival's celebrations with great devotion and enthusiasm.
Chaitra Navratri, one of the two major Navratris observed in India, marks the beginning of the Hindu lunar calendar and is dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine divine forms. The festival, also known as Ram Navratri, lasts for nine days and concludes with Ram Navami, the auspicious occasion celebrating the birth of Lord Ram.
During this period, devotees observe fasting, perform special rituals, and chant prayers in honor of Goddess Shakti. Each day is dedicated to worshipping a different incarnation of the goddess, signifying spiritual renewal and devotion.
The Maa Kamakhya Temple, one of the most significant Shakti Peethas, witnessed an overwhelming rush of pilgrims, with long queues forming as devotees eagerly awaited their turn for darshan. Temple authorities and security personnel worked tirelessly to manage the crowd and ensure smooth proceedings.
As the nine-day festival unfolds, the temple is expected to see an even greater influx of devotees, reinforcing its spiritual significance and the deep-rooted faith associated with Navratri celebrations.
