Guwahati: The 11th Queer Pride Guwahati concluded with resounding success as over 500 individuals gathered to celebrate diversity, equality, and solidarity. The pride march began at Latasil Field and culminated at Shankardev Udyan, ITA Machkhowa, marking a day filled with energy, unity, and hope. This year's theme, "Passing the Mic," emphasized the importance of amplifying marginalized voices within and beyond the LGBTQIA+ community. LGBTQIA+ stands for: Lesbian: Women who are romantically or physically attracted to other women. Gay: People, often men, who are romantically or physically attracted to the same gender. Bisexual: Individuals who are attracted to more than one gender. Transgender (Trans): People whose gender identity differs from the gender they were assigned at birth. Queer: A term for individuals who do not fit traditional labels for gender or sexuality, often used to celebrate uniqueness. Intersex: Individuals born with physical traits (such as chromosomes or reproductive organs) that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. Asexual (Ace): People who experience little or no romantic or physical attraction. The event began with speeches by the Head, Chelsie, and Vice Head, Tannaz.
