GUWAHATI: The recent pipe burst at Kharghuli has left 28 families displaced, forcing them to seek temporary shelter at Lal Singh Academy High School. The provincialized school, located near the affected area, has been converted into a relief camp to provide support to those impacted by the January 2 incident.

While the arrangement has provided much-needed relief to the affected families, it has also led to disruptions in the school’s regular functioning, sparking concerns among its authorities. The institution was forced to shut down for two days, affecting academic activities. The school’s principal, Marami Bora, expressed her concerns, particularly about the upcoming Mock Test for Gunotsav, a crucial preparatory assessment scheduled for next Tuesday.

“We have a Mock Test for Gunotsav scheduled next Tuesday. For that, we have been facing some problems. Hopefully, the affected families will be moved to a different place by tomorrow,” Bora stated. The Kharghuli pipe burst caused significant damage to homes, leaving dozens of residents with no choice but to evacuate. Local authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to rehabilitate the victims to a more suitable location as soon as possible.
