

GUWAHATI: In a successful operation, the Basistha Police, under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge (OC), apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in a mobile shop burglary in Guwahati's Lakhtokia area. The arrests took place during a special night patrol on the previous evening.
The suspects, identified as Rabin Ali, 22, and Jahidul Islam, 25, were found in possession of multiple stolen mobile phones and burglary tools. Rabin, son of Md. Rasid Ali, hails from 4 No. Baghmara in Kamrup district, while Jahidul, son of the late Kamaluddin, is a resident of Jyotigaon in Barpeta district. Both individuals were nabbed at Paltan Bazaar Railway station and near Dhirenpur FRU respectively.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered a variety of items, including one screwdriver, a pair of scissors, and a Jio Bharat keypad mobile handset. The total haul of stolen goods included 29 mobile phones, comprising three iPhones, 24 Android devices, and two additional keypad handsets. Additionally, 15 AirPods and a black-colored bag were seized.
The suspects confessed to their involvement in the burglary, according to reports, providing insight into the case that has caused alarm among the local populace. The police are still investigating to see if there are other accomplices who are involved in this case.
