Guwahati: Guwahati Police arrested five cybercriminals in separate operations conducted by the Cyber Police Station and Dispur Police.

The Cyber Police arrested Rabiul Chand, a resident of West Bengal currently staying in Jalukbari, for defrauding a city resident of nearly Rs 1 crore. He has been remanded to six days of police custody for investigation. Another accused, Rabinur Islam from Kalgachia in the Barpeta district, was also arrested for duping job seekers through fake advertisements on OLX, promising employment in APDCL.

Meanwhile, Dispur Police apprehended three cyber fraudsters from a hotel in the Supermarket area. The accused, identified as Gautam Sibulina and Mohmambad Samir from Kerala, and Amar Andesh Sindhe from Maharashtra, were operating from the city and have been taken into custody.
