GUWAHATI: A traffic team of the Geetanagar Police Station in Guwahati acted against three motorbikes fitted with modified silencers at the Narengi Traffic Point. The operation was to check complaints of noise disturbances caused by these vehicles.
The police arrested two Continental GT650 motorcycles with registration numbers AS01FP8785 and AS11S7775, and a Royal Enfield 350 with the number AS01DU6484. According to reports, the occupants of these motorbikes have been creating noise in the city with their bikes' loud engines for quite a while.
According to a police official, "All three bikes, along with the riders, were brought to the Police Station for necessary action." The enforcement of noise regulations is part of the police's broader effort to maintain public order and ensure a peaceful environment for residents.
Months ago, the Guwahati police caught a gang of thieves, recovered 13 stolen bikes and apprehended seven bike lifters. The gang, which operated with high efficiency, stole Royal Enfield bikes in just 45 seconds and smuggled them to Myanmar for resale.
According to ADCP East Anurag Sharma, “The operation against “The Hunter Lifter” was conducted on the orders of CP Partha Sarathi Mahanta and under the supervision of DCP East. We got some interesting facts: 13 stolen bikes have been recovered, and seven bike lifters have been apprehended.”
