Guwahati: The ongoing investigation into the alleged sex trafficking network operating out of Baptice Inn guest house in Guwahati has taken a more alarming turn, with the arrest of a serving police jawan from South Salmara. The accused, identified as Lansnayak Jiyarul Rahman, was apprehended earlier today after his name emerged during the interrogation of the previously arrested individuals.
This follows the arrest of Dilip Hazarika alias Bapti Hazarika, the proprietor of Baptice Inn and the alleged mastermind of the trafficking ring. Sources have now confirmed that Hazarika has a criminal history. Police have already obtained Hazarika’s bank account details to trace financial transactions related to the racket. A suo motu case (399/25) has been registered against him under Section 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
