GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police recently apprehended two suspects involved in a mobile shop burglary in the Lakhtokia area, recovering 29 stolen phones, burglary tools, and 15 AirPods.
"Their plan was flawless," Guwahati Police posted on their X account. The post said that their execution was foiled. The arrest was carried out by the Basistha Police on Saturday, February 22, during a night patrol operation. The suspects, Rabin Ali (22) from Kamrup district and Jahidul Islam (25) from Barpeta district, were intercepted at Paltan Bazaar Railway Station and near Dhirenpur FRU. Both individuals were found carrying a black bag containing the stolen goods. According to police sources, the duo had sliced through the tin roof of a mobile shop before making away with the valuable gadgets. Among the recovered items were three iPhones, 24 Android smartphones, two keypad handsets, and burglary tools, including a screwdriver and scissors. The suspects allegedly attempted to flee upon spotting the police team but were swiftly chased down and detained. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the theft. Police have initiated legal proceedings, and further investigations are underway to identify any accomplices.
