Guwahati: Amid a series of disturbing incidents across the state involving religious provocation, including the alleged throwing of beef inside and near Hindu religious sites, a fresh case has emerged in Panjabari Puranbasti area where pork meat was allegedly found in the mosque complex. The incident has sparked tension and outrage in the locality.
According to sources, the discovery was made early Sunday morning when mosque authorities found pork meat placed within the premises, along with a handwritten letter containing inflammatory remarks. The letter reportedly made veiled threats and mentioned the name of a woman, suggesting the act was driven by a motive of revenge.
CCTV footage from surveillance cameras installed at the mosque revealed suspicious activity during Saturday night. A two-wheeler was seen loitering near the area around the time of the incident.
The deliberate nature of the act, targeting a place of worship with meat considered offensive in Islamic faith, has heightened concerns about attempts to disrupt communal harmony in the region. Dispur police have increased their presence in the area to maintain peace and prevent any escalation.
Community leaders have appealed to the public to maintain calm and not fall prey to misinformation or retaliatory actions. As the investigation progresses, police authorities remain on high alert to ensure law and order is upheld.
