Guwahati: In a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment and education, Assam’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Nandita Garlosa, on Thursday unveiled the official poster of a solo nationwide two-wheeler ride by Guwahati-based self-defense instructor and social activist, Ashmita Paul.
Scheduled to begin on May 18, 2025, the journey will see Ashmita ride from Guwahati to Kashmir, and then from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, carrying forward the message of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the importance of girl child education and empowerment.
The ride will also pay tribute to Assam’s youngest freedom fighter, Kanaklata Barua, whose legacy Ashmita aims to honour and highlight as a symbol of courage and resilience for young women across India.
