GUWAHATI: As part of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, Guwahati Refinery, in collaboration with District TB Cell, Kamrup Metro, conducted a tuberculosis screening camp for contractor workers engaged at the unit. The programme was inaugurated by Sunil Kanti, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery, in the presence of senior officials of the unit.
Addressing the gathering, Kanti emphasized the importance of early screening and proper nutrition in tuberculosis cases. He also mentioned that full support will be provided by Guwahati Refinery in case of detection of any new TB case after the screening. During the programme, District TB officials from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Chest Hospital, Kamrup (M), led by Guruprasad Goswami, delivered a talk regarding the importance of proper surveillance and screening of the population for tuberculosis. He spoke at length about the various schemes and facilities provided by the government for TB patients.
Earlier, the TB pledge was administered to all, and sputum samples were collected from 53 workers. Around 100 contractor workers attended the screening camp.
