Guwahati ropeway closed due to technical glitch

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati-North Guwahati ropeway which was inaugurated with fanfare on August 24 has been closed for an indefinite time due to technical glitch.

"The ropeway had been running without any hitch since the trial runs till Tuesday. But due to fluctuations in power, the motor of the ropeway got damaged. The problem was witnessed on Tuesday and thus the service has been closed for an indefinite time," said manager of the Guwahati ropeway project.

The manager said that engineers and technicians are trying to fix the problem and hopefully the services will be resumed soon. "In the last six months we were running the ropeway continuously. For last 10 days, there have been fluctuations in power thus, due to overheating the motor has rammed down," the manager reiterated. He added that the team is working to resume the service. However, they are yet to figure out the exact problem.
