Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended two persons red-handed while they were stealing railway materials from the Railway General Store Depot at Pandu during Saturday midnight. According to officials, inspectors Vikram (CIB/Guwahati) and Pawan Kumar (RPF Post/Kamakhya) led the operation, catching the accused near the depot boundary wall with stolen goods in their possession. The arrested have been identified as Sambhu Sahani (24) and Ashok Kumar (24), both residents of 6 No. Colony, Pandu, under Jhalukbari police station in the Kamrup district. Recovered items include two scrap yaw dampers used in railway coaches and scrap material from ten 2-volt railway batteries, with an estimated total value of Rs 20,800.
