Guwahati: Saddam Hussain Sentenced to 20 Years in Child Marriage Case

Saddam Hussain, convicted by a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCS) court in a child marriage case, has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 2 lakh.

GUWAHATI: Saddam Hussain, convicted by a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCS) court in a child marriage case, has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 2 lakh. The conviction falls under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). If the fine isn’t paid, Hussain will face an additional two years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and another two years under Section 9 of the PCM Act. The fine amount will be given to the victim as compensation. Both substantive sentences will run concurrently, and there’s no separate order under Section 376 of IPC due to the conviction under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The case has been registered as Dispur P/S case (202/22) and Session Special Case number 263/23.
