GUWAHATI: In a grand event held at the auditorium of the College of Veterinary Science in Khanapara, Ankurit Assam organized the ‘Ankurita Asom Krishak Ratna Award  2025’ on Saturday to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of farmers across Assam. A total of 18 farmers were honoured in six distinct categories, while the prestigious ‘Ankurita Asom Krishak Ratna Award’ was conferred upon Simanta Dutta of Bokakhat in Golaghat district, acknowledging him as the Best Farmer of the year. The Krishi Ratna Award included a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

In the Agricultural Entrepreneurship category, Ranjit Kumar Bora secured the first position, followed by Konkalata Das Mudoi in second place and Razia Rahman in third. The Agriculture category saw Dipen Baruah emerge as the winner, with Binoy Likhak and Radhika Patir Mili taking second and third places respectively. In the Horticulture category, Akbar Ali Ahmed received the first prize, while Debabrata Rabha and Sonaram Baniya were awarded second and third places.

In the Handloom and Weaving category, Geetu Rajbongshi clinched the first position, with Papu Bhuyan and Renu Nath following in second and third. The Fishery category honoured Abuwal Majid as the top performer, with Rahul Amin and Priyanka Das Baisya securing the next two spots. In the Animal Husbandry category, Dipankar Saikia received the first prize, while Raja Gohain and Madhurya Bora were awarded second and third places. Each first prize winner received a cash award of Rs. 35,000, the second prize winners received Rs. 25,000, and those in third place were awarded Rs. 15,000.

Ankurita Asom, founded six years ago, has been actively working to inspire the youth to take up agriculture and promote sustainable farming practices across the state. The organization’s mission is to build a self-reliant Assam where agriculture remains a continuous and thriving activity throughout the year.

The award ceremony was attended by several notable personalities, including Kamalpur MLA Diganta Kalita, Chairman of the Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Manoj Saikia, senior journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami, and popular media figure Nitumoni Saikia, along with other dignitaries.
