Guwahati: Flag sales in Guwahati have witnessed a decline this year, with fewer people purchasing large flags for their homes. Shopkeepers noted that most buyers now prefer small flags for their bikes and vehicles, significantly impacting the demand for bigger flags.

An official from the Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board stated that while flag prices remain similar to last year. Handmade flags price starts from Rs 100 to Rs 750.

Meanwhile, synthetic flags, commonly sold in markets like Silpukhuri, Ganeshguri, and Fancy Bazaar, range from Rs 50 to Rs 700, depending on size and material.

Flag vendors are also struggling to meet customer expectations, with many seeking affordable yet durable options. The shift in purchasing patterns, coupled with rising costs, has made this year’s flag sales more challenging than previous years.
