Guwahati: Speeding bus runs over pedestrian in Lalmati area of city

Guwahati: In a tragic incident on Thursday night, a man lost his life after being hit by a speeding bus in the Lalmati area of Guwahati. The deceased has been identified as Nomal Das, a resident of Nalbari.

According to eyewitnesses, Das was attempting to cross the road when a green bus, allegedly travelling at high speed, struck him with force, killing him on the spot. The bus was reportedly headed from Basistha towards Jalukbari at the time of the accident.

Soon after the incident, the driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Local residents promptly informed the police, who reached the location, seized the bus, and sent the body for post-mortem examination. An investigation is currently underway to trace the absconding driver.
