Guwahati: The Office of the Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA), has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) for students of Classes III to VIII. The assessment, aimed at evaluating student learning outcomes, will be conducted across all districts of Assam in June 2025.
According to the directive issued by SSA, the PAT will be conducted in four mediums — Assamese, English, Bodo, and Bengali. The assessment for Classes III to V will be held on June 17, while the test for Classes VI to VIII is scheduled for June 18.
The question pattern has been tailored to suit each grade group. Students of Classes III to V will attempt a total of 40 questions — 10 each from Language-1, Language-2, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies (EVS). Meanwhile, students of Classes VI to VIII will answer 50 questions covering Language-1, Language-2, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
Several operational guidelines have been issued to ensure the smooth conduct of the assessment. Each school is required to designate at least three teachers per subject to conduct the PAT. Question papers will be displayed on Smart Class Interactive Flat Panels or Tele-class Projector screens 45 minutes before the examination. Schools that do not have smart classroom facilities must access the question sets through the E-Classroom app, available on the Google Play Store. In such cases, teachers will write the questions on the blackboard, and students will respond in their regular class notebooks.
Teachers are responsible for evaluating the answers and submitting the responses using the PAT Chatbot platform. To ensure familiarity with the system, a series of training sessions has been planned. The first session for district-level officials (Inspectors of Schools, DEEOs, DPOs, and District Programmers) will be conducted on June 9. This will be followed by a second phase of training on June 10 for block-level officials, including BEEOs, BRPs, Block MIS Coordinators, and CRCCs. The final training phase will begin on June 13 with online sessions for teachers, which will be available through YouTube, along with video tutorials and user manuals.
Schools must complete the submission of individual student responses via the PAT Chatbot between June 19 and June 28.
