Guwahati: The Central Hall of the Assam Legislative Assembly witnessed the successful organization of the State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament today. The one-day session saw the participation of 140 youth representatives, aged 18-25, from all districts of Assam.

Inaugurating the event, Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary, elaborated on India’s democratic system, legislature, and executive functions in a simple yet insightful manner. Encouraging the youth to actively engage in politics, he remarked, “Politics is not bad; it is bad people who make politics bad. Therefore, good people should come into politics.”

The inaugural session was graced by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Garlosa, Special Secretary of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department KJ Hilali, and several other distinguished dignitaries.

The youth representatives were selected through district-level youth parliament sessions. Among them, the top three performers from today’s session will now advance to the National-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, set to take place at the Constitution Hall in New Delhi.

The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament serves as a platform for young minds to actively engage in discussions on India’s developmental aspirations. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, this initiative aims to foster leadership skills, civic responsibility, and policy decision-making capabilities among students through active participation in national issues.
