The disruption is caused by urgent leakage repair work at Chandmari. Authorities have apologized for the inconvenience and advised consumers to make necessary arrangements and use water judiciously until the regular supply is restored.

Guwahati Jal Board shared the following message on X: "We seek to inform our esteemed consumers that water supply in areas namely Piyoli Phukan, Chandmari, Rajgarh, Lachit Nagar, Gandhi Basti, Bora Service, Ashram Road, Ulubari, Birubari, etc., under the Amiya Nagar reservoir will be interrupted today owing to leakage rectification work at Chandmari. Meanwhile, earlier today, it came to notice that the residents of the Guwahati Club-Hedayetpur area are facing a severe water crisis due to the disruption of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s (GMC) old water supply scheme.

The Communist Party of India (M) Guwahati Central Regional Committee submitted a memorandum to the GMC’s Chief Engineer, Water Supply, demanding immediate repair of the old water supply scheme and provision of free water supply through tankers until the repair work is completed.

The memorandum, submitted by CPI(M) leaders, including Beena Pani Bora and Rita Dutta, stated that the old water supply scheme has been damaged due to the construction of roads, drains, and flyovers. As a result, the water supply has been irregular and often disrupted, causing immense hardship to the residents.

The CPI(M) demanded that the GMC take immediate steps to repair the old water supply scheme and ensure a regular water supply to the area. The party also demanded that the GMC provide free water supply through tankers three times a day (morning, afternoon, and evening) until the repair work is completed.
