GUWAHATI: The North Eastern Regional Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS) is set to host the NER Tech Hackathon 2025 on March 11 at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.

The event, themed “Unleashing the Potential of 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), AI, and Related Technologies to Address the Gap in NER,” focuses on using modern technology to drive digital innovation and solve important regional challenges. It will focus on how 5G can improve healthcare, agriculture, and animal husbandry, as well as how IoT can be used in the oil and gas sector.

With a strong emphasis on benefiting remote communities, women, youth, and self-help groups across the Northeast, the hackathon is being organized under the project “Deepening of Scientific Research on 5G Use Cases for Solving Challenges of Society.” This initiative is led by NERCORMS, a society functioning under the North Eastern Council and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

The event will give early-stage startups, innovators, and students a chance to create useful tech solutions for the region. To encourage participation, NERCORMS is offering a grand prize of Rs. 10 lakh for the winning team and three consolation prizes of Rs. 2 lakh each. Selected teams will also get Rs. 5,000 for extra expenses.

Registrations for the NER Tech Hackathon 2025 are open until March 1, 2025. The event aims to bring together talented individuals to boost technology, support sustainable development, and help grow the economy in Northeast India.
