
GUWAHATI: Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory regarding the proposed construction of an RCC stormwater drain on the southern side of NH-27, from Koomber Tea Warehouse near Hindustan Tower to Basistha Chariali, for diverting surface runoff from the catchment area of the Assam-Meghalaya border.
In view of the construction work, vehicular movement will be restricted on the stretch to ensure public safety, especially for vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons, while also providing free passage to emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders.
The regulations will be effective from March 5, 2025, until the completion of the construction work. Plying of all vehicles on the service road between Tripura Gali under bridge to Basistha Chariali, from Khanapara side towards Basistha/Garchuk side, will be stopped from 5 am onwards. V
ehicles coming from Khanapara towards Basistha Chariali or Basistha Mandir via the service road will be diverted at Tripura Gali under bridge point.
Commuters can either take a left turn towards Patarkuchi via Patarkuchi Road-Basistha Mandir Road or take a right turn towards the opposite service road and proceed via Basistha Chariali-Basistha Mandir Road.
However, vehicles coming from Khanapara towards Jayanagar Chariali can use the service road of Basistha Flyover-Tripura Gali under bridge-Jayanagar Road as usual.
There will be no restriction on the Basistha Flyover, and vehicles from Khanapara towards Jalukbari and from Jalukbari towards Khanapara can ply as usual.
Guwahati Traffic Police has requested the citizens of Guwahati to abide by the advisory and cooperate in the greater interest of society and the safety of the general public.
