GUWAHATI: Starting from today till February 12, the Agriculture Department, Assam in collaboration with the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi, is organizing a three-day training program on "Management of Irrigation and Fustigation." This training is being held at the Krishi Bhawan, Directorate of Agriculture Khanapara. Participating in the event, the Director of Agriculture, Assam, Bhaskar Pegu, IAS, stated that the primary objective of this training program is to equip officials with advanced Israeli irrigation and fertilizer management techniques to enhance agricultural productivity in Assam.

He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Israeli Embassy (MASHAV) for their support and cooperation in this initiative. The Director further mentioned that the knowledge gained from Israeli irrigation and fertilizer management techniques during this training will be disseminated at the departmental level among farmers in specific districts of Assam. This initiative aims to ensure year-round production and availability of vegetables in the market. It is noteworthy that in the Kamrup (Metro) district, the Agriculture Department has already established a "Field Trial Station (FTS)" utilizing Israeli technology, adapting it to local conditions to boost agricultural productivity. The training program was attended by Jayashree Das Varma (Honorary Consul of Israel to the Northeast Region), B Dev (Project Officer, Embassy of Israel), Kumud Haloi (Assistant Director of Agriculture and Nodal Officer, HMNEH), and representatives from NETAFIM Irrigation India Pvt. Ltd. Additionally, agricultural and relevant departmental officials from Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura participated in the event.
