Guwahati: Truck Destroys Gate of Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, the iconic heritage entrance gate of the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden was completely destroyed after a speeding dumper truck lost control and crashed into the historic structure. The gate, which was established in 1958, had stood as a symbol of the zoo’s long-standing history and significance. According to sources, the dumper truck, bearing registration number AS01EC-5574, was being used for ongoing construction work inside the zoo premises. The accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence. Following the crash, both the driver and the handyman reportedly fled the scene before traffic police could arrive.
