Guwahati: In a compassionate move to aid stray animals suffering in the rising summer temperatures, a group of animal lovers in Guwahati has installed 20 water bowls at key locations across the city.

The initiative, launched on Monday, is part of an ongoing effort to provide clean drinking water to stray dogs, cats, and birds who often struggle to find safe hydration sources during the hot months. Water bowls have been strategically placed in areas such as Noonmati Sector 2, Nepali Chowk, Salbari, Bhabanipur, Jyoti Nagar, Guwahati College Road, Gopal Nagar, and Choonsali, among others.

Speaking about the initiative, one of the activists said, “The extreme heat poses a serious threat to stray animals. Even a small step like providing water can make a big difference in their lives.”

The group plans to extend the drive to Chandmari and nearby areas in the next phase, with a broader goal of covering the entire city over time. Residents have been urged to support the initiative by ensuring the bowls placed near their homes or offices are kept clean and regularly refilled.

The effort has received widespread praise on social media, with many Guwahatians expressing interest in replicating the drive in their localities.
