GUWAHATI: The police cracked the mystery regarding the missing case of a ten-year-old boy filed in Dispur Police Station on May 10 when the mother of the child admitted before the police that she herself and her paramour killed the boy. The mother made the disclosure before the police on Mother’s Day.

The mother of the boy, Dipali Rajbongshi, lodged a complaint at Dispur Police Station on May 10, 2025, stating that her ten-year-old child, Mrinmoy Barman, went missing yesterday after going to attend tuition at Jayanagar on May 10.

This morning, the local people of Indira Nagar in Basistha noticed a trolley bag in a bush near the road. The feet of the boy were visible. On being informed, Basistha Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and ascertained that a complaint regarding the lodging of a complaint on the missing boy at Dispur Police Station.

Basistha Police detained the mother of the boy, Dipali Rajbongshi, and her paramour, Jitumoni Haloi, in that connection. During interrogation, the duo admitted to having killed the boy.

According to the police, Dipali Rajbongshi moved the court seeking divorce from her husband, Rajib Barman, two months ago, since when she has been staying separately in a rented house at Jayanagar. After the tuition, Jitumoni Haloi and Dipali Rajbongshi took the boy on their bike. Taking advantage of the rainstorm, Jitumoni Haloi strangulated the boy at Basistha in front of his mother, the police said.
