Habitual scooty thieves nabbed in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A joint operation was conducted jointly by the Hatigaon Police and Basistha Police Station based on an input where they apprehended two habitual scooty thieves on Saturday night. The thieves are identified as Anup Timung (19), alias Bengena, and Biswajit Timung (27) from Lichubagan, Hengarabari in Dispur area.

According to sources, on further investigation, one stolen scooty was also found which was provided to them by their mate, identified as Kanak Boro (19) of Lichubagan, Hengarabari of Dispur area.

As a result, Kanak Boro was apprehended. Kanak Boro's confession throughout the investigation helped the police team recover three more stolen scooties that were kept in Baghorbori. Those scooties were stolen from the Gandhi Basti area.

Again, two more people have been apprehended in this connection, identified as Biswajit Ramchiary (18) of Medaghat in Baksa district and Arjun Chamua (19) of Nayanpur in Ganeshguri area.

Accordingly, a case (502/23 u/s 392 IPC) has been registered under Basistha Police Station, and further investigation is being carried out.
