Hatigaon police busted fake currency gang racket, four arrested

GUWAHATI: Hatigaon police busted a racket involved in fake currency note circulation in the State. The development came while acting on a case (103/2020 u/s 120(B)/420 IPC) filed in Hatigaon Police State.
Four persons – Jahuruddin Ali hailing from Nalbari, Lalchand Ali from Barpeta, Noor Jamal Ali from Sarthebari and Sahidul Islam alias Rafiqul from Udalguri – have been arrested in this connection from the Sijubari area in the city. Hatigaon Police also conducted a raid at Orang and seized suspected fake notes with a face value of Rs 1.76 lakh. Two of the prime accused – Kania and Latifur – have been absconding.
All the arrested accused persons have been produced before the CJM Court in Guwahati on Sunday that sent them to judicial custody.
