GUWAHATI: The higher Secondary final examinations of 2023 under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will start on February 20. This year, 3,42,869 students will take the examinations in all four streams: arts, science, commerce, and vocational. The number of students this year is high in comparison to last year, which shows as 2,05,625 in 2022, and the number of HS final candidates this year is 1,37,244 more than that of 2022.
According to an official of the AHSEC, 2,72,529 candidates will take the HS final examinations in the arts stream this year, compared to 1,56,107 last year; 47,485 candidates in the science stream, compared to 33,534 last year; 20,907 candidates in the commerce stream, compared to 15,199 candidates last year; and 1,948 candidates in the vocational stream, compared to 785 last year.
The high school final examinations will conclude on March 20. The practical examinations have already been completed and were held from January 25 to February 15. This year, the examinations will be conducted in a total of 856 centres. AHSEC has completed the preparation for the conduction of the final examinations. The AHSEC prohibited all electronic gadgets, like mobile phones, electronic watches, calculators, etc., in examination halls. The examination centres will be under Section 144 of the CrPC during the examination hours. The candidates will get an additional fifteen minutes for reading question papers during the examinations.
