Hyderabad girl raped, beaten in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A 22-year-old girl from Hyderabad, who is staying as a paying guest in the Hatigaon area here, has lodged a complaint against one Sudhir Chowdhury (27), who hails from Haryana, accusing him of raping her over three days and then attempting to kill her in his rented house at the RK Choudhury Path under the Bharalumukh Police Station.

Police sources said that the accused youth, who was alone in the rented house as his father is away in Haryana, is absconding. The police has seized a vehicle from the rented house.

According to the sources, the victim is a designer of bamboo handicrafts.

According to the sources, after being raped and physically assaulted, the girl somehow managed to slip away from the culprit's house on Tuesday. She then took the help of a passer-by to alert the police. The girl was sent for medical treatment as she bore visible injuries on her face.

The police has registered a case (No 203/22 u/c 342/325/376) in this connection.
