ICAI announces 75% fee waiver for Northeast students

GUWAHATI: With an aim to woo more students from the North Eastern States to pursue Charter Accountancy, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Saturday announced a waiver of 75 % of the course fee for the students from the region. The fee waiver will be applicable to all enrolments to the course from December 1, 2019.

Making the announcement the concluding day of the two-day-long national conference of Chartered Accountants (CA) in the city on Saturday, the ICAI president Prafulla Chhajed said even though the CA course is one of the most affordable and economical professional courses in the country, his institute has decided to introduce 75% fee waiver to encourage more students of the NE region to join the course.

“The CA course is totally free from the reservation. Both entry and qualification in this course are purely on merit and once qualified. It is a globally recognized degree that can change the life of any person and his family, even from remotest areas of the country. The Institute has been constantly making up-gradation in its training system, infrastructure facilities for students and examination procedures for better placements and recognition of qualified CAs across the world,” Chhajed said.

The conference on Saturday witnessed a technical session on the very famous GST Law, where CA. V Raghuraman from Bengaluru discussed at length the nuances of search, seizure and arrest provisions under GST and CA Rohini Aggarwal from Delhi dealt with the latest Input Tax provisions and reconciliation in GST. Prasant Mali from Mumbai enlightened the members regarding impact of cyber space in CA Profession.
