IIT-Guwahati faculty member found hanging in city

GUWAHATI: The police found the body of Dr Samir Kamal (47), a faculty member of the Mathematics Department of IIT-Guwahati, at his residence on Thursday. The police sent the body to the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College & Hospital) for post-mortem. Kamrup SP Hitesh Chandra Roy said, "We receive information that people staying in IIT-Guwahati quarters got a foul smell from locked quarters. The police rushed to the quarters, opened the door in the presence of the magistrate and the OC and found the faculty member hanged."

The SP said that the police were investigating the case, besides trying to contact the family members of the faculty member.
