Image Makeover: Survey Likely On Traffic Police-Public Relations

GUWAHATI: An image makeover is in for the traffic police in Assam that received accolades from various quarters in the daring incident of constable Mithun Das staying put on Basistha traffic point doing his duty when the area had been badly lashed by a thunder squall recently. A picture of the scene going viral in the social media was indeed a morale booster for the traffic police in the State that had earned much bad name for a whole lot of wrong reasons.

Riding on the positive image, now the Assam Police is going to conduct an extensive survey on traffic police-public relations. Talking to The Sentinel on Monday, State DGP Kuladhar Saikia said: “The daring act by traffic police constable Mithun Das did paint a positive image for the police personnel managing traffic. People’s response to the image that went viral was quite impressive. Now we’re contemplating on conducting an extensive survey on traffic police-public relations. Such a survey, I feel, is set to make traffic police personnel people-oriented. Thrust of the survey will be on problems being faced by traffic police personnel and people’s response to them.”
