Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Ready For Post-Flood Response

GUWAHATI: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Assam State branch is ready for post-flood response, especially for the most needy and badly-affected people. The relief materials will cover the people who have lost their houses, means of income, single aged persons, single widows and differently able people.

IRCS Assam general secretary Diganta Bujarbaruah said that in order to render humanitarian services effectively, the State managing committee of the Society met and prepared a standard operating procedure (SOP). Flood Response 2019 has been circulated to district branches. Along with this, a control room has been set up at its centre at Kedar Road, Fancy Bazar, Guwahati.

Also present at the press meet at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday, IFRC’s South East Asia communication head Caroline Haga said, “The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are always ready to support the impressive humanitarian efforts by the Indian Red Cross across the country. I’m grateful for the national headquarters and the Assam State branch for the opportunity to see the flood relief efforts first hand”. IRCS Assam State branch now requests the stakeholders, corporate, well wishers to come forward with the society to help people in distress.
