GUWAHATI: The first working meeting of Janasankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF), Assam for the year 2022-2023 was held on Monday at 'Sudarshanalaya', the auditorium of NE headquarter of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Barbari here.

The State Executive meeting began with lighting of lamps under the image of Mother India and an introduction ceremony with the representatives from various districts of the State.

Tirthankar Das Kalita, Sanrakhsak of JSF, Assam and Field Intellectual Head of RSS, delivered the keynote address and drew attention to the terrible crisis brought to the region by the population explosion in Assam and the North-East as a whole. He said that there is no alternative to a strict population control law to curb unemployment, price hike, environmental degradation, population explosion which are serious threats to the unity and integrity of the country and the North-East.

The meeting was attended by JSF national vice president Harendra Bora, who urged the delegates to take the goals and objectives of JSF to the last person in the society by respecting the organizational policies and rules. Population explosion causes severe damage to everyone irrespective of caste and religion and becomes a challenge to the development and unity of the country, he said, adding that people from all walks of life should get involved in this public awareness campaign on the Population Control Act.

Emphasizing on strengthening the district and assembly JSF groups in the meeting, president Pankaj Talukdar advocated for more delegates from Assam to attend the upcoming Population Control Act Maha-rally on November 27 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The JSF National Convention to be held in Assam in October next year was also discussed, stated a press release.

The meeting decided to adopt and implement various agenda items for the coming term. The meeting was attended by the presidents of the districts JSF, distinguished representatives of various sectors of the society, including colleges and universities and socially active citizens. Dr Rabin Sarma and Dr Sonali Buragohain also delivered speeches, while the vote of thanks was offered by the Sangathan Sasiv, Mahila Shakti, JSF, Assam, Chanda Biswas.
