Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha Divas observed in the city by various organizations

GUWAHATI: The death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha was observed in Guwahati by various organizations on Saturday.

In view of the COVID-19 situation, the All Guwahati Students' Union centrally observed Rabha Divas at Swahid Bhawan in Uzanbazar by maintaining social distancing norms. The state executive members of the AASU Simanta Thakuria and Tapan Kalita inaugurated the programme by lighting of the lamp and paid floral tribute. Thakuria and Kalita said in unison that the vital role that Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rabha played is not only limited to the cultural field but to almost every field mostly in social, sports and political aspects.

Both the student leaders made an appeal to the student community of Assam to take initiative to keep alive the contribution of Kalaguru by organizing different cultural programmes and other activities. The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad observed the day in its central office at Panjbari. On the occasion, the parishad inaugurated the third edition of their megazine named Karmayog.

Meanwhile, the Anusuchit Jati Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom too observed the day at its Guwahati office by maintaining social distancing.
