GUWAHATI: The distribution of new ration cards commenced today in the Dispur Assembly constituency of Kamrup Metropolitan District, Assam. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Karmashree Hiteshwar Saikia College Auditorium, witnessed the presence of Cabinet Minister Atul Bora, who serves both as the Cabinet Minister of the Government of Assam and the Guardian Minister of Kamrup Metropolitan District.
A total of 5,949 ration cards are set to be provided to 19,100 selected beneficiaries in the Dispur constituency. Minister Atul Bora, addressing the gathering, emphasized the State Government's commitment to ensuring food security for its citizens. He highlighted various schemes implemented by the Government of Assam aimed at the overall development of the people.
The distribution of ration cards will be carried out by the ward councilor for the Guwahati Municipal Corporation beneficiaries and by the panchayat secretary for those in village panchayats. The ceremony was attended by MLA Atul Bora, Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania, and District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan.
Notably, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the distribution of 7,350 ration cards for 995 beneficiaries on January 16. The proactive step taken by the State Government aligns with its broader objectives of promoting the welfare and development of the people.
The formal distribution of ration cards to new beneficiaries in Guwahati Central and Dimoria assembly constituencies is scheduled for January 24, followed by New Guwahati and Dimoria assembly constituencies on January 25.
