

GUWAHATI: On Monday, the Kamrup Metro administration named 33 locations throughout the district as accident-prone.
Kamrup (M) DC Pallav Gopal Jha presided over a meeting with the District Road Safety Committee in Guwahati and gave instructions to the other deputy commissioners, district transport officials, and other senior officials to analyse the accident pattern in these 33 "black spots," rectify it within 15 days, and raise awareness of it.
The DC also instructed all involved departments to clear roadside jungles, remove sludge and sand buildups, and make quick arrangements for suitable road signage, reflectors, and other safety equipment in accident-prone areas.
In his remarks on traffic safety measures, DC Jha urged the relevant agencies to hasten the building of pathways, the repair of damaged roads, and other related tasks.
The PWD authorities have been urged by the Deputy Commissioner to install speed bumps on the routes that connect the National Highways.
Taking on Twitter, Kamrup Metro District Administration informed that, “DC, Kamrup(M) Shri Pallav Gopal Jha chaired meeting of District Road Safety Committee with ADC, DTOs &senior officials. The DC instructed to analyse pattern of accidents, identify black spots and rectify the same within 15 days besides creating awareness of same.”
On the other hand, in June, An astounding 366 risky spots have been located by the Guwahati administration in Assam, prompting worries about future landslides.
Authorities have reportedly assessed the locations where landslides are expected to occur and taken preventative action, according to sources. Fatasil, Bhangagarh, Gotanagar, Hengrabari, Jalukbari, Lankeshwar, Kahilipara, Kala Pahar, Kharghuli, Koinadhara, Maligaon, Navagraha, Narakasura, Narengi, and Noonmati are among the places that have been recognised.
To reduce potential dangers, precautionary measures are being taken, including monitoring slope stability, installing the requisite drainage systems, and carrying out routine inspections.
